Cade Turns 4

On Dec. 23 our little Caders turned 4! Grandpa was here for the holidays and got him this super cool Lightning McQueen watch!

Cal wanted to make him a card and was very excited to give it to him.

The Dittbrenner's came over for the party as well! We love living near them.

Grandpa Bill gave him this awesome remote control flying shark! It was the hit of the party!

Cade asked for a Rudolph party this year. We made Rudolph cupcakes!

Love this sweet boy.

Our little Caders is quite the entertainer. He is one unique little boy, with quite the sense of humor. He is very loud and loves to use "potty words" (everything is either poop or fart). He enjoys playing football, playing with Cal and taking care of Bella! We sure love him!

Snowman

The snow has been melting quickly here, which makes us sad. We were able to make a snowman, not as big as the one Grandpa made the kids a few years back, but as big as a pregnant mama and 2 boys could make! The boys even found him a hat, looks like he is a BYU fan!

We have been getting a ton of snow here! It is fun since we have not lived in snow for 7 years! The kids have been spending most of the day outside playing in it! These were taken on Monday and there is so much more snow now! Church and school have been cancelled all week so far, and I am sure it will be for the rest of the week.

Great Uncle Arnold's Funeral

I know this blog is super late, but this is one that I need to blog because me Uncle Arnold was one of the greatest men I knew. He was 93 years old when he passed away. He was patient, kind, funny, a hard worker, a talker, and my hero! I love him and miss him so much but know that he is with his family, and that makes me happy because i know that he was ready to see them again! I can't wait for my family to do his temple work!

Idaho Fun

We have some new friends up in Idaho that we love! Adrian had to do some work up there, so we decided to go with him and stayed with this family. They were the best hosts and have the best house ever! I barely saw my boys, because they were outside playing and exploring all day long!

They took us horseback riding, 4 wheeling, the boys went camping while the girls had a fun time eating out, shopping, watching a movie and making bows! Good company and yummy food!

These 2 had SO much fun together, they played outside ALL DAY LONG, it was a bit scary watching the 2 of them on the four wheeler going crazy. Sam is just a few months older than Cal and they became the best of friends!

So we decided it has been a while since Adrian took any pictures of the kids, so we spent the morning getting two rather energetic little boys and our little angel ready, not noticing the storm that was rolling in...

30 mile/hour winds meant that mom and Bella stayed in the car while the boys went out and braved the wind...

So here is what I found after noting that the house had gone a little "quiet".
(quiet is only a good thing if they are in bed..)
So to the kitchen quietly I went, and sure enough here is Cade. Had he bailed before I got there, I would still have known it was him, based on the amount of cheese on the table (and if you look closely, on the seat and floor).

Pinewood Derby

One of the perks about me being a cub scout leader is my boys are able to do all the fun activities, like race in the Pinewood Derby. Adrian spent many hours making the boys their car-not too bad for his 1st car! Grandpa was even here to watch them race it!

Magic Mountain

We took a short trip out to California this fall and decided to hit up Magic Mountain and the zoo for a change! We had never been to Magic Mountian and had a blast. I only wish it would have been open longer so Adrian could have road more of the big roller coasters. He felt bad leaving me and the kids, so he hung out with us most of the time riding the smaller rides. ( I personally am not a fan of roller coaster anymore, in my old age, they make me sick!)

Batman told Cal to stand with his arms folded and act tough! They were pretty excited to get a picture with him, I don't think they really wanted wonder woman in the picture though.

I think this roller coaster was the boys favorite! They rode it probably 10 times! (They are in the front and Adrian is behind them)

So these last two pictures is what happens when I am left with all 3 kids by myself. I told Adrian to go and ride some of the big rides by himself while we went and got something to eat. I was reading the menu with by back towards the boys. Cal gets into my bags and starts taking pictures. Too funny that these happen to be 2 of the pictures he takes.

Pumpkin Party

Every year my sister, Kristie and her family have a pumpkin party. Her husband grows all the pumpkins in their garden, then in October they have a big party and lets everyone pick their own pumpkins, hang out have a photo shoot, and eat yummy chili!

We also got some other goods from their garden, Kylee and Caders carrying them to the car

Apple Picking

OK so I decided I am going to play catch-up with some of the fun times we have had last fall that I never posted about. I REALLY am going to try to blog more this year.

This is from a trip we took up north to see family and decided to go pick some apples! Here is our gang before we went on the hey ride

After we picked the apples, we had a little tour of how they make their apple cider. I don't remember exactly what he was doing with Cal, but I think Cal is suppose to be the apples being loaded and dropped through the bag, one of the beginning process.

Cal will ask me a couple times a day, questions like this:

"Mom can I have a friend over?"

Although, we do go to the park a couple times a week and he has been lucky to play with a lot of friends lately, I find myself saying to him

"Maybe tomorrow."

I don't want to be mean and just say no, although I don't really plan on fulfilling his question "tomorrow". The answer makes him happy and we move on.

Well today he asked me

"Mom, is today tomorrow?"

Grand Canyon

We headed over to the Grand Canyon with Nanna and Poppy Collin for a day and hiked around. We thought this is a good place to take visitors not from the U.S. We took Adrian's dad here last time he visited.

Cade can be pretty crazy, and made me nervous being so high, so Poppy Collin carried him a lot of the way. Cade loved it, he became pretty attached to Collin, and loved to fly on his shoulders!

After the hike Nanna treated us to ice cream cones! We had a great time!

Snack Time

Cal wanted to have a snack and wanted to do it by himself. He picked out cucumbers! (love that my kids like veggies!) He peeled them, and them cut them with a table knife! He was so proud of himself! What a big boy he is!

Cal really wanted to go bowling for his birthday. Cal and Cade did awesome! The two of them were on the same team, and between the two of them they got either a strike or a spare on almost every turn! They loved bowling with Poppy Collin and having Nanna watching them!

While Nana and Poppy Collin were here from Australia, we decided to have Cal's B-day!

He wanted a Star Wars party, Nana and Poppy spoiled him with all his gifts, like his Star Wars shirt that he is wearing and cake, and lots of other fun little toys.

We gave him some "very special " Star Wars books. These were Adrian's books when he was younger. I love that we were able to get a lot of Adrian's childhood books.


We had some yummy "Yoda Soda"

Cal loves his Baby Bella and Caders. He loves to sing songs to Bella when she cries and tries to hold her all by himself. He misses Cade when it is his nap time, and often times will sneak upstairs to wake him early so they can play. His favorite food is carrots, his favorite color is green. He likes riding his scooter over his bike. He has a great memory, he memorized his talk and scripture when it was his turn in primary. He loves to play with his friends and cousins, especially those that are older. He loves swimming and playing outside with bugs and lizards.

Cherry Picking

There's not a better way to start the summer. Climbing in trees, picking cherries, EATING the BEST cherries, and being with those that we love!

I have been really crappy about blogging lately (well actually for about a year now) but I am going to try to be more on top of things, especially since Adrian's family is on the other side of the world and my family is getting further away. It's fun to keep in touch this way! Plus whenever I get into a blogging routine it makes me take more pictures.

(I believe that is the name of the Dunes.) We had a great Memorial Weekend with lots of fun. We headed to the lake with some friends, BBQ'd with some friends and headed to the dunes as a family to play and have a picnic!

My little sister and her cute family moved a few weeks ago to New York. We will miss you guys, they lived in Vegas and was our closest family, we were lucky to see them a ton while they lived there. I cried like a baby after the drove away, hopefully we will make it out there to visit! Love you guys!

Scriptures!!

Cal was playing in the garage and came running in with his big contagious smile and said
"mom you bought me my own scriptures!" he was SO happy! I happily smiled back at him and said "you bet I did!" I didn't want to explain to him that his new Book of Mormon was actually an old Book of Mormon that had been collecting dust in the garage for years.
He then decided that he needed to go show his little best friend Kate who lives across the street from us. He ran and got his scooter to ride over there and figured out he couldn't ride and hold his scriptures at the same time, so he put his scriptures in his backpack, and had to go in style with his shades!
He rode over to her house, took off his back pack, unzipped it, showed Kate his new scriptures, put it back in his backpack and rode back home!
He also proudly took his scriptures to church today and loves to read it!

Delivery

I got in my room around 10:30 Sat night, Adrian went home for a little bit to pack our stuff and get the babysitters situated. I was having contractions every 3-4 minutes and my Dr. prescribed me a little pain killer to make me a little sleepy plus it took the edge off of my contractions enough for me to hold off on the epidural. We had a long sleepless night and about 6:00am I got my epidural. The entire time I was in the hospital the baby's heart beat was on the low side of what it was suppose to be and the last few hours it dropped below where it was suppose to be, so they had to hook the heart monitor on the top of her head inside of me (which left a pretty good bruise on her head). My Blood pressure dropped pretty low, so I had to have oxygen (which drove me nuts!)

While I was pushing, I think Adrian sensed something and backed away and told the Dr, that he would just watch (normally Adrian is in on the action and helps deliver the baby). Sure enough the nurses were telling me to push and my Dr told me to stop pushing and to slow down.

The cord ended up being wrapped around her neck 2 times, but my awesome doctor that we absolutely love, quickly fixed the problem, and all was well!
I did get sick with this one and was throwing up and very week the rest of the day. I could barely hold Bella because of it until that evening.

The boys came that evening to see their new baby sister and me!

They sure love giving her kisses and squeezes! It was a great Mother's day, one I will never forget!

Labor

My due date was May 11 and on Friday, May 7, I was barely dilated to a 2. We didn't know what to think because with Cal I was dilated at a 3 a month before he was due, and I went into labor on his due date. With Cade I wasn't dilating at all and I went into labor 2 weeks early.

All we knew is we were ready to have this baby. I started going on walks a few days before, "A" a foreign exchange student at our church came over and cooked us Spicy Thai food Thurs. night, and Sat night we decided to go out, we had one of the girls from our church come and babysit and we headed out for dinner. We went out and got wings for dinner, spicy of course, and while we were there I had a couple of contractions, which was exciting, after dinner we decided we had to going walking, not just anywhere, we had to go to a STORE. (Cal my water broke at Target, Cade my water broke at Costco). We went to Target and started walking around, both of us were thinking this is a waste of time, like if my water is going to break tonight at Target. But we were enjoying ourselves and decided to continue, when all of a sudden I had a contraction, a little while later, I had another, so we thought this is fun lets time them. We started to time them and they were 7 min apart. My Dr told me if I was having contractions 7-10 min apart to go to the hospital, but we were still hesitant, so we kept walking. By now my back started to hurt so we decided instead of driving all the way home and coming all the way back maybe I should just go to the hospital and get things checked out. By the time we got to the hospital my contractions were 4 min. apart and getting pretty painful. The nurse checked me and I was STILL at a 2, I was so disappointed, but she said she needed me to stay for an hour so they could monitor my contractions and they would check me again. After an hour, I was dilated to a 3 and they took me to my room!
I don't know if was all the walking, the spicy foods or what that put me into labor, but Adrian and I seem to think it was TARGET!!
So all 3 of my kids I have started labor at a store, pretty funny!

Mother's Day Suprise!

Bella Sandi Reeder is here! She was born on Mother's Day 10:30 in the morning. 20 inches 8.4 pounds! We are so excited to have her with us!

Disneyland!

We went to Disneyland, a few weeks back with 2 of my sisters and their families! Here we are meeting some of our favorite characters!

Cal was not shy at all and would run and give each one a big squeeze! My little Cade on the other hand was so excited until it was our turn and he would totally freak out, so I had to go with him!

Yup, we are having a baby girl! And so are two of my sisters! SO fun that we are due so close to each other! This picture was taken a few weeks ago, while I was up north visiting some family. On Dec. 23 was my little Cade's birthday! We started it off by going to Jumping Jacks! The boys always have so much fun there!

Cal wanted to give Cade a present this year and picked out Mickey Mouse sippy cups! This is Cal telling him all about the cups and giving squeezes!
Cade is such a fun little 2 year old! We love him so much! Here are some fun things about him
He LOVES anything Mickey Mouse
He loves to play with Cal (for the most part) and copies whatever Cal says or does
He loves to jump especially off things (like curbs and stairs)
He is the best sleeper ever!
And a great eater!
He is becoming quite the talker and is VERY loud
His favorite things to say are "Look mommy" or "watch this daddy" as he does something silly!
He likes to talk on the phone

I'm Back

My life has been pretty uneventful for the 2 months that I haven't blogged. I have been hanging out in bathrooms for those 2 months, neglecting my children (good thing for Aunts, Uncles, cousins, Adrian, and friends), and my house is a disaster! I keep telling my self that it is worth it, and I am finally now starting to believe it, since I am starting to feel better! For those of you who haven't heard the news! I am pregnant, and it has to be a girl! I am 13 weeks, and due May 10th!

I thought i would tell Cal that we were having a baby, I'm pretty sure he doesn't get it, I figured we will talk more about it when the time is closer, but for now this is what he had to say about it:

Me: Cal guess what?
Cal: What?
Me: We are going to have a baby!
Cal: ( A little concered voice) But we already have a baby.
Me: I know, but were going to get a new, tiny, little baby!
Cal: (Very, Very concerned face and voice) But mom, I want to keep Caders!

Oh what a sweet boy he is, he sure loves his little brother. I assured him we are keeping Caders!

We went up north for a month and stayed with my awesome sister Kristie and her wonderful family, because I was just to sick to take care of my kids all day and Adrian was super busy with work. They spoiled me and the boys! I will post about our stay up there another time.

Last night for FHE we went over to Grandpa's pond to catch crawdads! We had a great time!

For me there is nothing better than having one of my boys sleep on me. It doesn't happen too often because they like their cribs/beds too much! SO this was pure heaven for me. Sitting in the shade on the sand , listening to the waves, watching daddy and Cal boogie board with little Cadders sleeping on me!

I got to love this face! He is always so dirty, not to mention the snot coming from his nose! Poor kid I think he has allergies, his nose is so runny all the time!
Cade absolutely loves to give kisses right now, on the lips. He won't give up until he gives you one and most of the time his face looks pretty much like this! But I love it!

Buried In the Sand

I remember when I was little my brother and I buried each other in the sand from the neck down, on one of the beaches in CA. I thought it was the coolest thing, we have pictures of it and it brings back such fun memories. So, of course I had to bury my boys in the sand and take their pictures. They were a little nervous about having their arms buried so I just did their legs. Cal loved it, Cade not so much!

No More Sugar for Adrian - for ONE YEAR!!!

So, we were camping with some friends last week just north of San Diego (thanks for letting us stay Kidds, we had so much fun and it was great to catch up with all of you!!). Crayton (their 9 yr old boy) is doing a one year no sugar (i.e. sweets, candy, junk food etc) challenge. 7 months and going strong, attaboy Crayton. Well, in driving home, we got to talking about it, and my good, loving, supportive wife made the comment, that I could never do that... Way to throw down the mat Danell!!

What a challenge. So, I decided, starting August 1, I am going to go one year without eating junk food. A definition would be - candy, icecream, cookies, cake, etc etc... I have been wanting to help the young men in my ward understand that we are only as good as our word. So I am giving my word to everybody that I know (at least who reads our blog) that I can keep my word, and not eat the above mentioned junk food etc for one year. Similar to Crayton's challenge, I get four free days (one for each quarter - Crayton only got three, but he is also only 9 and hasn't got thirty five yrs of carb addiction to overcome!!). I was going to add soda to the list, but one year without junk food is one thing, insanity is another. One vice at a time.

Today, July 31st, in preparation for the next 365 days of misery, I went to Walmart and bought three ice-cream bars and ate them all.

When asked why he was doing it, Crayton responded, "because I am broke, and I am getting $200 bucks if I make it". Good for you Crayton. Me, I am doing it A. To show my good wife what a stallion I am.. and B. because I am 35, have had high stress occupations for the last 10 yrs, don't exercise, and I don't want die of a heart attack when I am 40. Having said that, if anybody reading this wants to pony up and offer me cash incentives for completing the challenge, I be happy to take you money!!

Crap... it's 10pm, Friday 31st. I have two hours left, and there is no junk food in the house... I am too tired to drive to Walmart for a last minute icecream snack-attack.

Cal made up his own song today. He was going potty and I heard him singing. When I got in there I asked him what he was doing and he said he was singing for Jesus! How precious is that. I asked him to sing it for me and then later to daddy and this is what he sang.

Swimming Lessons

Cal started swimming lessons this week and absolutely loves them! He goes for 2 weeks every morning, he is also going to go Sat mornings when these lessons are up. This little boy is a fish, he loves to play in the water!

Cherry Picking!!

While my dad and sister were here, one of my friends invited us to go pick some cherries! We had such a good time and the cherries were yummy! I am so glad my friend told me about this place!

We love living so close to the lake! We haven't taken the boat out yet this summer but we have made many trips to the lake to play in the sand and water. When my dad and sister and her girls were here, we decided to have a little picnic at the lake and relax. Unfortunately, it didn't last as long as what we were hoping, it got a little too windy!

Cal was so excited it was finally HIS Birthday! He wanted a Lightning McQueen birthday cake, we had a lot of fun! Grandpa, some of his cousins and Aunt Andrea were able to join us for his party!
We had A "cars theme " party. I made a road that went through our house out of butcher paper and some other fun decor. My sister Andrea and I were up til 12:30 the night before making all the signs! Thanks Anj! Here is everyone standing by the "Welcome to Radiator Springs sign" at the beginning of the road.
One of the first stops was "Ramon's House of Body Art" where we painted lighting bolts on every ones faces! Cal thought this was pretty cool!

While the kids were outside playing with the lighting McQueen bubbles, Lighting McQueen pulled up and gave everybody a ride! ( I thought this turned out cute, I am not much of an artist or very creative but I thought I did a pretty good job! Plus the kids loved it!)

Meet Egg

This is Egg. Cal's pet lizard.

A few weeks ago, some of our neighbors were out trying to catch a lizard and asked Adrian if he could catch it for them. About a week later they came and knocked on our door and asked if we wanted him, since Adrian was the one who caught him. Of course Cal thought it was the coolest thing EVER! He wanted to name him EGG. Cal absolutly loved Egg. Adrian and him built him a home in a box with dirt and rocks, gave him water to drink and food to eat. Cal would tell Egg goodnight for naps and bedtime, he blew him kisses, he was always wanting to touch egg and carry his box around. It was pretty cute how much Cal loved Egg.
We decided a week later it was probably best for Egg if he lived outside not in a box so he could see the rest of his family and have more room to play. Adrian let him go one night, and Cal stills tries to find him when we are outside. It was fun seeing Cal with a pet. Who knows maybe we will get a dog for the boys. (ok probably not!)

The Beach

For my birthday we decided to head over to California for a quick vacation. The first day we headed down to the beach ate lunch on the pier and played at the beach. Cade missed out playing in the sand, he fell asleep and we wanted him to sleep because we knew tomorrow would be a big day for him at Disney Land.

Awhile back the boys and I decided to have a "Thanks Daddy" party for all the hard work he does for our family. Cal and I made a banner for him and cookies. We ordered pizza, watched a movie and slept on the air mattress. It was fun times. I think Cal's favorite part was jumping off the couch onto the air mattress.

Catch Up

We have been super busy this past month. We went to AZ to clean our house and get it ready for new renters, we moved and it is taking me forever to unpack everything, and we have had tons of fun! We went to Jumpin Jacks again with Cal's friend Aiden. My boys can not get enough of this place!

While unpacking in the gargage, Cal was suppose to be taking his nap. We went outside and saw Cal standing of course with no clothes on, on the window seal. I am paranoid about things like this so I made Adrian go upstair right then and screw in wood on top of the window and wherever else so they can not be opened. We also have alarms on all our doors and windows, I know I worry WAY too much!

Cade has been waking up almost every morning looking like this. We have had to use a humidifier in his room and put vasoline on his nose. And of course I can't get the blood out of any of the sheets.

The boys and I headed over to visit dad at the parade of homes where Elim Valley had a tent. We had a lot of fun playing on some of the toys there!

For our anniversary, Adrian totally surprised me with a trip to Cancun! I had no idea! I thought we were going to San Diego. We left our boys with my big sister Kristie and her awesome family. It was hard saying goodbye to them but I knew that they would totally be spoiled with their Uncle, Aunt and cousins. They went to the zoo, fed the ducks, ate Mickey Mouse pasta and chicken nuggets! Totally spoiled!! She even made a photo album of everything they did, super cute! Thanks Behunins, we owe you!
We had a great time in Cancun. I'm bummed that we didn't take more photos!I think Scuba Diving was my favorite thing we did! Adrian is certified but I had to take a little class and go with a master diver. We only went down about 35-40 feet. It was really neat to see everything and to go diving with Adrian, he has been wanting to dive with me forever. I was scared under the water, but I think a lot had to do with my instructor not knowing English very well.

Adrian and his friend ate at this restaurant years ago, and he talks about how good the food was all the time. He forgot the name of it, so after walking up and down all the streets, we finally found it. The food was great!

When in Cozumel, we rented a scooter and drove around the island, we bought some lunch and had a picnic at the beach and swam a little!
We had a great time and can't wait to go back (with the boys)!!

5 Years!!

Aadventurous, Adrian loves going on adventures, and taking me with him! Instead of just going for a Sunday drive we head up to the hills and explore some back country that we have never seen. Life is always an adventure when it comes to Adrian he sure is not boring! He loves having fun!
Ddedicated, Adrian is a very dedicated person. He is a dedicated church member, a dedicated worker, and a dedicated father and husband. Just last night Adrian played with the kids, helped put them down and started to work from home. Cade has been sick and woke up crying at about 10:00, before I could go in and get Cade, Adrian had already quit working and got Cade and quieted him down. Adrian worked until about 1:15am then came to bed. Around 2am Cal woke up screaming. Once again before i could get up and get cal. Adrian was already in his room and quieting him down. Cade then woke up at 4am, this time I was ready and jumped out of bed quickly to beat Adrian because I knew he hadn't got a lot of sleep and had to go to work early. I was in with Cade and he just would not stop crying, and here comes Adrian to help calm him down. I am so grateful for a dedicated husband and daddy to our boys!
Rough, I say that in a nice way! I love that Adrian is rough and tough! He likes guns and 4 wheeling, sports and boating. I like how he rough houses with the boys!
Intelligent, I tease Adrian about this because I tell him that he knows EVERYTHING about EVERYTHING! But the Truth is, he pretty much does!! He loves to learn knew things. He also knows so much about the doctrine of our church, he is always teaching me knew things!
Always Outgoing, Unlike myself, Adrian can talk to anyone and befriend them just like that! In the hot tub, on the plane at the store, everywhere we go he can chat up a storm with anyone. I am so grateful for this, because of it, we have met all kinds of people and we have friends, because I am the quiet type.
Nice, I know it sounds simple. But Adrian is a genuine nice person. He makes friends with almost everyone, he looks past those quirks that others might see, and sees their true colors. He has so many different types of friends because of this quality and is one of the many things I love about him!

Our Honeymoon in San Diego!

Our 2 year anniversary! Adrian has known that I have always wanted a fruit tree so he surprised
me with a lemon tree all planted in our back yard! I had been away for a few days, so I had no idea! He was so cute, he bought some lemons and hung them on the tree for me since it of course had not grown lemons yet. I loved it!!

My sister Tanya and her cute little family came to visit, they were here for New Year's Eve and New Years Day which is also Tanya's B-day. The kids, Tanya and I made these little 2009 masks earlier in the day with crayons and glitter (they say 2009 in case you can't see) anyways, I thought it was a cute idea but as you can see the circles for the eyes didn't match up with the eyes all that well, we thought they were pretty funny! We decided to have a little party and bang some pots and pans around, say "Happy New Year!" and wear the masks before midnight with the kids before they went to bed. So here is Spencer, Cal, and Kendra with their masks! The adults played a game called Ticket to Ride (super fun game!) It was fun hanging out with them as always! We love you Elzingas!!

Christmas

As a child one of my favorite traditions was having Santa come and visit us on Christmas Eve and give us 1 present to open. This is the 1st year that Adrian has been Santa (because of visiting family and somebody else was always Santa). He thought it was pretty fun. Cal was way into Santa this year, it was so cute to see him get so excited whenever we saw Santa (we went a bunch of times to the mall and saw him) Cade kindof liked Santa too. The boys and Santa

Our neighbor Joe and Santa. (Joe had broke his hip earlier and was suppose to fly out to Maryland for the Holidays but instead was in a rehab center so he spent the Holidays with us. It was fun to spend it with him and to share our Holiday traditions with him and to hear of his holiday traditions. We were also able to use his and Willy's Christmas dishes for the 1st time. It was the first thing Joe noticed when he came in were the dishes.

Putting the reindeer food out to help guide the reindeer to our house and have something to eat while Santa is inside. We made this in Joy school.

Last of Our Trip to Kansas

These are the last photos of our trip to Kansas to visit my Uncle Arnold. My boys sure like playing with their great great uncle, and I think Uncle Arnold liked them also!

One night we decided to go to the lighted horse parade with my Uncle. They decorate all the horses with lights. This is the second time we have been to it, they do it every Thanksgiving. Cal like the horses as always.

On our way back to Colorado, we stopped by my Uncle Jerry's and Aunt Laura's house and ate some yummy chile and visited with them for awhile. My Uncle Jerry has a pigeon loft so Cal had to go check out the pigeons! I wish I would have got some pictures with my Aunt and Uncle, I don't know what I was thinking.
We had a great visit and did lots of fun things. Unfortunately, Adrian took the camera back to St. George early, so I don't have any pictures of Colorado, but we had a great time at the Denver Zoo, and playing with Grandpa! We miss everyone we saw and love you all!

More of the Farm

These are just some cute pictures that we took of the boys. We were out for a short walk (because it was freezing) when Cal climbed up on this old truck at the farm. This truck has been there for as long as I can remember, I don't know the story of it, who did it belong to I wonder?! I should have asked my Uncle while I was there. I think it is pretty cool next time I am there, I will have to dress them up cute and take some cute pictures of them on it, especially if it belonged to someone in the family, I am assuming it is an old family car? Cade's 1st Birthday!!

I can't believe my baby boy is 1!! This year went by so fast! I feel like I was just in the hospital telling Adrian that he needed to go buy Cade a Christmas present because we weren't expecting him until after Christmas in 2 weeks! He was the best little surprise Christmas present for out family! He had a tough little start at the beginning with being jaundice and being under lights for 2 weeks and then having RSV and having to go to the hospital twice a day for 2 months to get treatments and having to do treatments at home with him as well, it broke my heart, but so thankful it was nothing too big and that our happy healthy little one year old is running around now!!

A little bit about Cade:
He loves food!
He will not drink a cold bottle, it has to be warm!
He likes to walk, but does the army crawl like a pro. If he needs to be somewhere fast he will forget walking and do the army crawl!
He likes to play with balls and cars, he chases them all around.
He loves playing with his brother, but likes it when it is supervised so Cal doesn't get too rough with him.
He loves to be thrown around and rough housed with!
He loves to jump on his daddy and mom but won't jump on Cal.
He is such a sweet easy little boy, he goes to sleep so easily and is happy most of the time!
He has 2 bottom teeth, but working on his top 2!
He is such a joy to our family!! We love you Cade!! Happy Birthday!!

Joy School Christmas Party

Our little class had a fun little Christmas party this last week. Our friend Joe from Adrian's work dressed up as Santa for us and visited with the kids, they thought it was pretty cool! Hay Stacks

When I was younger, one of my favorite things to do as a kid was to jump the hay stacks at the farm. We would have all kinds of races and fun! Well Cal and Cade's little legs were not quite long enough to jump so mostly they just sat and climbed around on them the best they could, plus it was freezing!! Cal did attempt to jump one but didn't quite make it. By the big smile on his face you can tell that he still was having fun!

Gingerbread House for Uncle Arnold

While in Kansas at my Uncles farm, it was raining and too cold to play outside so, we decided to build a ginger bread house to give to my great Uncle Arnold. He doesn't live at the farm anymore, but in a nursing home. It was a little different being at the farm without him, but we still had a good time going and seeing him and bringing him back to his home. So as many of you know my little Cal is obsessed with guns, (or as he calls them "shoot guns"). For Thanksgiving we decided to go to my Uncle Arnold's farm in Kansas. While we there, Cal was in heaven shooting Grandpa's "shoot gun". The guns Adrian brought were a little too powerful for Cal so my dad decided to bring a BB Gun for Cal to shoot. Cal thought it was pretty cool, he also got to shoot Grandpa's 22 Rifle. He takes after his dad, as my dad would say, "he'se a real gunnie!"Cal and Grandpa shooting the BB gun on the bridge!

This is long overdue, but we have been so busy! Back in October Adrian's dad came and visited us. We had fun seeing him again and miss him! We wish we could see Adrian's side of the family more! We didn't do anything too big this visit because of Adrian's work but we still had fun with him. We went trick or treating, carved pumpkins, went to see Thriller at Tuachan, put him to work at the warehouse and relaxed.

We had to take Grandpa to the park because it is one of Cal's favorite places to go.

We also went to the Grand Canyon for a day, attempted to take some family pictures, hiked around a little, took lots of pictures of the great view and had a picnic dinner.

Trick-or-Treat

Cal and Cade had a great time dressing up. We took them around the neighborhood to go Trick-or-Treating. When the people answer their door instead of saying Trick-or-Treat Cal would say "BOO!" It was pretty funny!Cal dressed up Winnie the Pooh (thanks Kristie for the outfit!) Cal thought he was pretty cool because I colored his nose brown, and Cade was Nemo! They were so cute!

Carving Pumpkins

We had lots of fun this Halloween! Grandpa came and visited us from New Zealand and celebrated his first Halloween with the boys! So of course we had to have him carve pumpkins with us! I think he had a good time. Our pumpkins all looked great! Cal liked to work on his pumpkin and Cade was happy just playing with his little pumpkin.

Right now the boys either play so well together OR not so much. Cade can't play with any toys without his big brother taking them away, Cade can't make any noises without his big brother saying "no Tadders too loud" . Cal's hugs and kisses are sometimes loved by Cade and other times Cade wants nothing to do with them. BUT when they do play together it is the cuttest thing ever! They laugh so hard at eachother and love playing peek-a-boo and singing the happy song! I love these guys!

Instead of making this a sad post, (even though I am crying right now) I want to just mention a few of my favorite memories of my mom. When I was little I remember I kept having a bad dream, finally one night I went in and woke up my mom, she let me sleep with them that night, she also told me about a bad dream that she had when she was little, her dream was about her going to the bathroom in an outhouse on a hill on a snowy day when all of a sudden a big snowball started rolling down the hill and over all of the kids and she didn't know because she was inside and it ended up rolling right over her. All you could see was the big snowball with little hands and feet sticking out. I remember laughing with my mom telling her that that was a funny dream not a scary dream. I also remember driving one night with my mom back in the hills and us both pulling the car over because we both saw something in the sky , we sat and watched it until it disappeared, I still to this day think it was a UFO! Ha Thanks mom for all the great memories! I miss you and wish so much that the rest of my little family had the chance of knowing you on this earth! We love you!

Update on the Boys

I thought I would let you all know the latest happenings with the boys.

Cal is really into lining up all of his toys with wheels and calling it his train, he loves trains! Did I mention a few months ago at church when the sacrament was being passed, all was perfectly quiet, Cal stood up in his chair, cupped his hand around his mouth to make it louder and yelled "All Aboard!!!".
He is so proud of his train and the straight line he puts them in. He gets a little upset when Cade tries to play and ruins his straight line.Yes Casan, Cade must be taking after his brother, he has no shirt on! Cade had his 9 month check up the other day. I can't believe he is that old already. Anyways, he only gained one and a half ounces in 3 months, the Dr. was a little concerned she ended up weighing him 4 times on 3 different scales to make sure. (I had just nursed and fed him solids right before and he hadn't had a wet diaper, meaning he probably lost weight). He dropped to the 8th percentile for his weight. The Dr. decided to put him on some medication for his spit up. For those of you who have not have the privilege of holding this cute little boy, he spits up all the time to the point that people don't want to hold him because of it. After visiting us once, my brother in law told my sister he thought something was wrong with Cade because he spits up ALL the time. Well Brett, the doctor finally agrees with you and thinks there is something wrong also. We go back to the doctors in a month to get him weighed. I am not a fan of having him on medication so young. Hopefully he won't have to be on it too long.
Cade also just got his 1st tooth yesterday!

Cute Little Cade

I just think this picture is so cute of Cade. He looks so much like Cal but at the same time I think they look so different. I think it is the big blue eyes that make them look similar. Their personalities are so completely different but sometimes so much alike. Cade is such an easy easy baby, except he is not a big fan of anyone holding him but mommy and daddy. Totally a momma's boy, but sure loves his daddy, the rougher daddy is with him the more he likes it.

1st Day of Joy School

Today was Cal's 1st day of school. A friend of mine from our ward invited me to do joy school with her and 2 of her friends. There are 4 kids all together so about once a month they will all come to Cal's house and I will teach the lesson. Cal was pretty excited about the whole thing. I don't know if he actually understood that he was AT school I think that he thought it was just a play date at Hunter's house.He was totally into his backpack and school supplies. While at school he was a little obsessed with his glue stick. He learned all about the letter A and made some pretty cool crafts!

The Real Blessing was Ours

My wonderful wife does not know I am posting this...

Joe and Willie (our next door neighbors) were not the ones blessed by our association with them, I am the one who has been blessed. What a humbling blessing for me to watch the way my wife's concern and love for this quiet elderly couple grew. Danell is not one to get up in Church and tell everybody how great she is, or how strong her testimony is, or what wonderful things she accomplished over the week. She's not big on words and long discussions about how much she knows. But I have learned more about her divine character and her quiet capacity to love and serve, in the last 9 months than the whole time I have known her before that. She made it a point to take Cal over there and make sure he gave Willie "hugs & kisses" not just because it was "cute" but because she knew it meant a lot to Willie, and because Willie had grown fond of our little bundle of energy(chaos) that is Cal. She made it a point to try and visit whenever possible, just to provide company, knowing that most of Joe and Willie's family are a long way away. And it was never just "taking brownies over to the neighbors because that's what we do," it was always because of the sweet bond Danell has developed with them.

I had no idea that blowing kisses and "catching them and putting them in my pocket for later" (read the entry before this to understand what i am referring to) was something that Cal learned from Willie. Willie may never know that this has become one of our favorite bed time traditions and is now a family tradition that will last for generations... (well, she does know...).

I can't imagine the grief that Joe must feel with the huge void that has appeared in his life with the loss of his companion of 53 yrs. I am also glad that Willie has been set free from the pain and misery of the last few months. I have no doubt that Joe will get to see and be with her again, he was always so gentle and caring for his wife.

Willie, we are so grateful to have been blessed by our friendship with you and we miss you...

In Memory of Our Dear Friend Willy

Our dear friend and neighbor passed away this morning. In the course of living in St George, we have not met many people, I always joke and say that are best friends are Joe and Willy even though they are twice are age, we don't know them from church or work just from being neighbors. This picture was taken the beginning of June on Cal's B-day, they got him 2 movies, one being about a fish which has become his favorite.
Joe and Willy both knew this was going to be happening so Willy had been cleaning out everything and getting everything in order for Joe, while doing this she gave us some of their Christmas dishes. Every Christmas I will use these dishes and be reminded of our good friends Joe and Willy. Our little family sure grew close to them, when we say our prayers, Cal will always remind us "Bless Joe and Willy" in case we forgot. Willy had the most beautiful front yard, it was nice living across the street from them because our view was so great with all of the flowers Willy would plant and tend to all the time. She always had a cookie to give to Cal even when visiting in the hospital Cal always got a cookie. She taught Cal had to blow a kiss, and when he would blow her a kiss she would always "catch it and put it in her pocket to save it for later" This was a tradition of theirs to always catch each others kisses.
The last 2 months have been pretty rough on her body, but she kept fighting to stay alive to spend time with her husband Joe of 53 years. I know that she is in a better place and not in pain anymore but it still doesn't make things easier right now, my heart still aches for Joe and his family and we will still miss her. We love you Willy!
